We are living longer lives, which leaves us susceptible to a myriad of health concerns and conditions associated with normal aging. Loren Fishman, MD together with yoga therapist Ellen Saltonstall are pioneers in using yoga to improve bone health. They have piloted a research study that demonstrates a clear correlation between regular yoga practice and improved bone density without the side effects of many osteoporosis medications.
Come learn the practice from Yoga teacher and Physical Therapist Becky Paulin-Liston, who has recently completed certification with Loren and Ellen in this approach. In this 8 week series, you will learn about osteoporosis and what we can do to prevent or even reverse bone thinning. Practice will evolve weekly to incorporate the 12 postures that have been identified to be the most helpful in maintaining bone health in Dr. Fishman’s research. The posture can be modified to make them accessible to all levels and abilities.
Ongoing/level 2 = 12 - 1 pm This group class will draw postures from each of Dr. Fishman’s 12 pose series. Best if you have taken level 1 before, but open to longtime yoga practioners.
